3.5 Stars. Upgrading from the MX Master 3, this one is not a significant improvement. The build quality seems good, its weight imparts a premium feel; no rubbery finish may mean better durability, though the thumb area is rubber so i suspect discoloration (I got white). Still requires the logi options + software, and if you're using Logitech G series keyboard this means requiring two separate apps - g hub and options +. The main disappointment is the 8k dpi. I'm using a Dell Ultrasharp 24 inch monitor. When the extend dpi to 8k is enabled via logi options+ app and the speed increased, precision is lost (with native windows enhance pointer precision on or off). The pointer moves and accelerates fast but slowing down or stopping at intended position is not precise! After trying various speed settings I found keeping the extended dpi off and the Speed at around 75% gives the best performance and accuracy. So what have I paid the premium for? The Logitech g305 performs much better in both pointer speed and precision than the MX Master 4. I do hope a firmware update can fix the MX M4 to be equally good. Else I am not impressed. This isn’t buyer’s remorse. It is my honest impression. At this price point for a mouse, one expects the very best in all aspects.
